Before we know it, Christmas will be upon us. Now is the time to pledge your sponsorship for Grand Bay’s 2016 Country Christmas events, start designing your float for the “SPECTACULAR PARADE OF LIGHTS”, and plan costumes for the Mr. and Miss Country Christmas Costume pageant; new this year, we will have arts and crafts along Hwy 90.
If you missed the enormous Christmas tree rolling down Hwy 90 last year on S&H Towing’s long flatbed trailer, you will have another chance during the Thanksgiving weekend. Everyone is invited to participate and hang your oversized ornament on the tree during the last week in November. We would love to have as many large homemade weatherproof ornaments as possible this year. Contact Kelli at (251) 644-2080 for guidelines or if you have a family or group that wants to help with the tree decorating. Businesses will participate in the COMMUNITY OPEN HOUSE on Friday, December 2nd and Santa will visit for photos. We light the Christmas Tree on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, December 3rd continues the COMMUNITY OPEN HOUSE with arts & crafts during the day in the center of town and the “Spectacular Parade of Lights” begins at 7 pm. Get parade applications here in The Connection or at Azalea Real Estate of Tommy’s Barber Shop on Hwy 90. Mr. & Miss Country Christmas Costume Pageant, will be held at the Grand Bay Community Center and Santa will visit us for “Milk and Cookies with Santa” on Saturday Morning December 3rd.
We depend on your sponsorship and parade fees to pay for the Country Christmas events. So if you have a business and would like to participate, please let us know. We are always open to new ideas to help make Grand Bay’s Country Christmas a fun time for the entire community. As usual, Citizens For A Better Grand Bay needs volunteers to help with Country Christmas. It takes at least 20 -30 people to make the events run smoothly. Please call Aleta at (251) 656-4576 if you wish to volunteer or need more information on any of the events. Follow us on Facebook at Grand Bay Country Christmas or Grand Bay Alabama Community.
