Castlen Elementary’s Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Brandy Parnell

Congratulations to Castlen Elementary’s Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Brandy Parnell. Mrs. Parnell has worked at Castlen for 11 years and has 12 total years with Mobile County Public Schools working one year as a paraprofessional. During this time she has shown herself to be a reliable, trustworthy and innovative educator. She is skilled in gaining the trust and respect of her students and understands each student’s individual needs which is apparent when you see her always surrounded by her students in a small group regardless of the subject being taught. Mrs. Parnell gives her students her all on a daily basis, constantly working to help them be successful. Her love of teaching and love of her students show through everything she does. She has also taken on numerous roles within our school: Lead ELA Teacher (3-5), Reading PLT representative, After School Tutoring teacher. Mrs. Parnell is very compassionate about the lives of her students and is committed to students’ success at Castlen and as they return home each day. Each year when Mrs. Parnell is met with new challenges, she embraces those challenges and ensures that all students in her classroom succeed on their level.
