Spring Plant Sale
Spring is almost here and the Town of Dauphin Island has scheduled a Plant Sale that you won’t want to miss. Growers and distributors will be on hand offering you indoor and outdoor plants, trees, beach & dune vegetation and an assortment of other plant products. Choose from a variety of juvenile trees such as magnolia, oak, pine, palms, cypress as well as shrubs and flowering plants to beautify your home and property. The Plant Sale is set for Saturday, March 4 from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and will take place at Green Park next to Ship & Shore. The Plant Sale is open to the public so be sure to invite your friends and neighbors!
Benefit for DI Elementary
DI Elementary School PTO is hosting a benefit prize BINGO on Sunday, February 12 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Edmunds Catholic Church Hall and you’re invited to join in on the fun and winning! The group is also accepting prize donations and all proceeds go to support school activities for the students. Art Night
The Dauphin Island Heritage and Arts Council will host its second “Last Friday Art Night” of the 2017 season on February 24 at the Art Gallery on Bienville Blvd. Open to the public, this popular monthly gathering offers a unique opportunity to shop for local art, experience an art demonstration, enjoy food and drink, browse the Heritage Gallery and socialize with friends, neighbors and island visitors. The event runs from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and organizers respectfully request a $5 donation per person.
Rabies Clinic
The Town of Dauphin Island is hosting a Rabies Clinic at town hall on Saturday, February 25 from 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Rabies vaccinations are $10 each and will protect your pet for up to one year. Make sure your pet’s immunizations are up to date.
WWII Living History Event
Fort Gaines is the place to be on the weekend of March 11-12 when the historic site will host a WWII Living History Event. Experience the life of soldiers as they set up camp, perform drills and work in the blacksmith shop. Always a fun and educational time for the entire family. Annual Introductory Class
at the Sea Lab
Dauphin Island Sea Lab (DISL) is having its annual introductory class for the Docent/Volunteer program on Saturday, Feb 25th from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Classroom location TBA. The deadline to pre-register for class is Wednesday, February 22nd at 3:00p.m. For more info contact Jamelle Roy at (251) 861-2141 x7545 or volunteer@disl.org. An application can be acquired through email request. In addition, the Discovery Hall Programs (DHP) at DISL offer marine science education to all ages in a variety of formats beginning in June. Registration for all programs is open. For K-12 students, DHP offers camps, activity days and a residential course in marine science.
