New Horizon Credit Union Scholarship Awarded to Alma Bryant High School Senior
Ashleigh Nelson, daughter of Doug and Beth Nelson of Irvington, Alabama was recently awarded a $1000 scholarship from New Horizons Credit Union. Recipients of the scholarship were chosen based on their academic achievement, community involvement, and essay responses. Ashleigh will be attending Bishop State Community College in the fall and will be majoring in the nursing program there.
Alma Bryant High School Seniors Awarded Apprenticeships and Job Opportunities
Alma Bryant High School seniors, Michael Wyatt and Justin Gambrell were recently hired as fulltime Fabrication Trade Assistants at Austal Shipbuilding following their participation in the spring apprenticeship program offered through the shipbuilding manufacturer. Both young men will be earning competitive salaries and will receive a full benefits package through Austal. Ingalls Ship-building also recently hired a new class of apprentices from Alma Bryant High School. ABHS seniors, Nicholas Botter; Landon Wes-ton; Branden Sharlow; Hom Neak; Jamell Moseley; Austin Bullard, and Jakob Jordan received the opportunity for full-time employment at Ingalls which also included fulltime benefits. We congratulate all of these career technical education students on their achievements.
Kickin’ Cane Dancers Selected for the 2020-2021 School Team
Congratulations are sent out to the newly selected 2020-2021 Alma Bryant High School Dance Team. The new members are: Nia Banks (Captain); Alexis Blackwell (Captain); Gracie White (Lieutenant- Community Outreach); Mackenzie Johnston (Lieutenant-Social Media); Lindsey Ruf-fin; Teresa Nguyen; Ava Vick; Tristan Reaves; Emily Graves; Kaitlinn Norris; Anna Turner; Audrey Tillman; Julia Graves; Ebony James; Caroline Taylor; Tyra Watson and Maria Rivera. Mrs. Tanya Parent is the dance team advisor and instructor.
More Local Young Ladies Recognized
The 2019-2020 Alma Bryant High School Azalea Trail Maids were Shelby Oliver; Kayleigh Pugh; Lauren Montgomery; Jaryn Barnickel and Kenzie Boyer. The young ladies recently celebrated the selection of the 2020-2021 Alma Bryant High School members of the Mobile Azalea Trail. The newly selected maids are Gracie White; Mychel Coven; Savannah Creel; Hanna Garcia and Faith Harvill. Alma Bryant High School student, Chloe Dickin-son was also selected to serve as one of the 2020-2021 Oakleigh Belles. Congratulations all!

The ABHS Junior Varsity Cheer Team members selected are Captain- Mickenzy Henry; Emilee Andrews; Laci Flannagan; Camryn Lofton; Breanna McDonald; Destiny Menotti; Victoria Hartman; Trinity Huot; Hannah Parker; Emily Payne; Kyleigh Previto; Ava Roberts; and Lilly Steiner. Jasmine Stringfellow was selected as the new 2020 ABHS school mascot.
