I want to assure you that your City leaders and I are working hard to ensure that vital city services remain available during this unprecedented public health crisis. We are in constant contact with the Department of Emergency Management and carefully monitor recommendations and orders from the CDC, Governor Kay Ivey and the Mobile County Department of Health.
Our priority is always the health, welfare and safety of our residents and their families. We are participating in ‘social distancing’, among other measures, that will hopefully protect us from an upward curve in trying to slow the spread of this virus (COVID-19).
In the coming days I ask for your help in assisting us in addressing the needs of our most vulnerable residents, the use of social distancing and to regularly wash your hands and/or make use of hand sanitizer if available. Please use patience and a spirit of cooperation in supporting our local establishments with alternative measures they have implemented in rendering their services to the public. Until we have overcome this serious health crisis, I implore each family in our community to please follow the directives provided by the CDC, Governor Kay Ivey and others placed by the Mobile County Board of Health.
I can’t predict what will happen in the next few days or weeks, but I know that as a community we will overcome this crisis as we have done many times in the history of our area. I urge each of you during these trying times to look within yourselves and use compassion and understanding; praying for our city, its leaders and each other.
