Students at Castlen Elementary School participated in five community service projects during December. With help from our community and the local organization Dixie Rear Detachment, students collected supplies to send care packages to troops overseas. Students and parents also collected toys for MCPSS Stuff the Bus yearly program to those in need this Christmas season. In addition, Castlen Student Council sponsored a Christmas tree to be viewed by patients and their families at USA Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Also, officers and class representatives from Castlen Student Council along with Castlen PTO performed holiday songs and gave gifts to residents at the Grand Bay Convalescent Home. Finally, with the help of students and parents, Castlen donated over 700 canned goods for the food pantry at First Baptist Church in Grand Bay. Castlen students know the importance of giving back to their community and sincerely appreciate the assistance from the community in assisting us with our service projects throughout the school year.
