August marks the second year that I have had the opportunity to be the Editor-in-Chief of The Connection Newspaper. I still think back to all the days and evenings sitting and talking with Mrs. Ruby Gulley about old publications, do’s and don’ts, and the eventual takeover back in August of 2016. Never would I have thought that I would be a writer in a newspaper, and I still do not think I am that good of a writer given my grammatical errors that Ross Hatcher likes to point out from time to time.
There are a number of goals that still have not been reached with the paper but in due time I believe we will reach them. Starting this month you can go online and keep up to date on the website for articles that were in the paper and if you would like to view a digital copy of the website. We haven’t done a good job of keeping that updated recently but are going to work hard at keeping the site up to date.
One thing that we are proud of is that we are staying true to our core business plan of keeping the community connected, but we believe we can do even a better job than what we are doing currently. A way in which we can accomplish that is getting information from the public. We want more than anything for the public to become involved in the paper, not just with posting advertisements, but with sharing articles or events that are upcoming in the community. Now if you want to post an advertisement you are more than welcome to and with every advertisement that is posted you are helping a young Asian family survive.
All joking aside I am very thankful for what the paper has become and the potential for the paper in the near future. From time to time we do look for those who have experience in sales to work part time with us selling advertisements and potentially those that would like to come on board as a writer in the paper. If you would like more information on either please contact us at info@theconnectionpaper.com. You can also text or leave a voicemail at 251-210-7018. Thank you for taking the time to read the paper and for your continued support. God Bless!
