Taste of Dauphin Island
Please join the Dauphin Island Heritage and Arts Council for a “Taste of Dauphin Island” being held on Thursday, December 1, from 6:30 – 9 pm at The Estuarium at Dauphin Island Sea Lab. The event will showcase Island cuisine by Billy Goat Concessions, Dority’s Grill, IR Italian, Islanders Restaurant, JT’s Sunset Grill, May’s Cafe at the Sea Lab, Miguel’s Beach ‘n Baja, and Pirate’s Bar & Grill. Enjoy tasting great food, including crab and corn bisque, gumbo, mini-crab cakes, jambalaya, Cuban pork tacos, chicken and cheese enchiladas, shrimp scampi, steak bites, Oysters Dauphine, bread pudding and many other delectable dishes, along with wine and beer. Then vote for your favorite restaurant to win the “People’s Choice Award”. You’ll also be eligible to win wonderful works of art created and donated by Gallery artists Frank Ledbetter, Perry Zirlott, Benno Kollegger, Regina Kollegger and Joe Sheffield. Live music by Lee Yankee will round out a delightful evening in the fascinating environment of The Estuarium. Proceeds will benefit DIHAC and its programs, including the DI Gallery, Art Club and Summer Art Camp for students at DI Elementary School, “Stirring the Sand” live storytelling and others. The event is sponsored in part by the Dauphin Island Sea Lab, the participating restaurants, and Greer’s Old Bay Market. Annual Dauphin Island Christmas Parade
On Saturday, December 3 at 11am the Annual DI Christmas Parade will travel along Bienville Boulevard from Cadillac Square to the Dauphin Island School and you’re invited to join in on the fun! Join us and Old St. Nick for a traditional Christmas Parade to usher in the holiday season. The DI Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony on Saturday, December 10 at 5pm at Water Tower Plaza. Last year’s event was such a huge success the group has decided to make it an annual tradition. Refreshments will be provided and youngsters are invited to come play in the “Snow”! Mark your calendars and join us for these holiday season festivities!
