Question:
All the changes in weather lately have really messed with my allergies this year. I have been taking Benadryl to treat it, but it is really making me drowsy at work. Are there any options that won’t have this side effect?
Yes, there are actually several other options to help treat allergies that do not always cause drowsiness. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is usually the most effective treatment for allergies, but most people also have good outcomes with Claritin (loratadine), Allegra (fexofenadine), and Zyrtec (cetirizine). These 3 options also only require once-daily dosing, which is easier for most people to do.
